I Apologize For This Post
I Apologize For This Post
After a little experimentation, I found out that the first five words of an entry automatically becomes the title for the entry. So if you're using blogBuddy, or something similar, the trick to auto-posting to MovableType is to use five word titles. I guess I'll be writing a lot of bad poems.
I apologize for this post.
You're just sitting there,
watching me test this thing.
Perhaps we can dance.

Hey, man, that's OK. You don't have to apologize. At least you haven't thought about "ricing" the site as of yet...
(Okay, my apologies for those who think that the term "rice rocket" is racist, but...)

LOL...don't think I haven't thought about it, but this little baby here belongs to Ryan. I'll bet he is somewhat reluctantly amused at what I'm doing while I poke and prod at the site's various interfaces. And we all know that Ryan is very protective of his interfaces. He is probably grimacing right now as I write this.
Though, I'll bet that if I offered him a ride in tricked out Acura Integra and cruise through Waiks, he might just take the offer.

Rice rockets I know (and frequently ridicule). But how would one 'rice' a site? Hmm. Maybe I just won't ask.
I thought maybe it was something along the lines of TyPInG LiKE tHIs tO SHoW my aZiaN sOLIdaRiTy. Heh.
And reluctantly? Not at all! I wouldn't have set up half the gizmos for HawaiiStories I did if it weren't for your pokes and prods.
But I am waiting to read something non-poke-and-prod related from you... <grin>

Or put up ridiculous stickers and signs saying that this site runs on "performance" software. Or change the name to HaWaIiStOrIeZ and make the site look like we'd been "tricked out" with the brightest, cheapest car paint from the '80s. Complete with checkered flag motif.
Dammit, it's the April Fool's Joke That Got Away From Us, brah. ;)
(PS. click on the word "ricing" on my first post and it links up to an article from SomethingAwful.com on how to "rice" up your computer... it's actually the SECOND article I've read on the Web about how to upgrade your 486mHz into a "boss ride" megaperformance computer by just adding a few parts here and there... and thankfully, it's all satire.)

With skins! Of course, I can't actually show an example of skins because I took them out of my site when I redesigned it two months ago.

Talk about geeky! I'm postinq this from my PDA! This is just a test...

Kewl. So how are you doing it? I'm so geeky I want details...LOL.
Posted by Tom on April 10, 2002 12:23 PM:
Hey Ryan,
Are you using AvantGO? I tried to post comments using AvantGo on my Palm and so far on 1 out of 5 actally went through.
How this for Geeky:
I overclocked my Palm using CruiseControl and I also use my Palm as a universal remote control..
Posted by Ryan on April 10, 2002 1:47 PM:
That's pretty geeky, too. (Another PDA post here.)
Yes, this is via AvantGo, though. Try syncing the PDA version of the site at the URL above (still being tweaked) -- it eliminates, for example, the JavaScript in the form ("Remember Me") that might be bungling things.

OK. Here goes..
Posted by Ryan on April 11, 2002 2:34 PM:
Looks like it worked! (And you don't want to know where this comment was composed...)
Man. HTML is a pain in Grafitti.

Hey, Ryan, do you know XML? Now, if you created an XML version of that PDA page, I can include it on my weblog page. Hawaii Stories syndicated...kewl.
Posted by Bill on April 12, 2002 5:04 AM:
Haken, I think this site is already available in XML. Just go here if you want to syndicate Hawaii Stories to your blog. How cool is that?
Posted by Stella on April 12, 2002 8:18 AM:
Actually, Bill, Haken already beat us to the syndication punch - he was the first one out of all of us in the community to syndicate the site on his blog using XML. (He also has tried auto-posting without having to log in to MT.) And a great number of us (myself included) would never have had syndicated the site if he and Ryan never thought it could be done. ;)

Stella, you give me too much credit. I was just tinkering. Thanks for the kuddos tho.

You're welcome, H. Thought I'd give credit where credit's due. ;) Besides, there's nothing wrong with tinkering...
