The Case for Domesticity

Erm. Uh, yeah. Today marks my first post as a Hawaii Stories community member. This means that I am formally introducing Domesticity to a whole new audience.

Just so you know, here are a few things to help you make your Domesticity experience a pleasant one:

Yes, there really is a Meimei... sort of. Actually, “Meimei” is a nom du blog - I've chosen not to post under my given name out of concerns for my privacy. Those of you who know me in real life (as Meimei's cranky but equally fabulous alter ego, herefore referred to in this blog as The Other) should know that I don't have much to hide and there really is no difference between Meimei and the Other... except that Meimei would never, EVER, leave the house without a bra, let alone go braless while wearing a dumpy old T-shirt and dumpier sweatpants while going for a late-night chocolate run at 7-Eleven. Really!

(Which reminds me: That picture in the avatar is actually Catherine Deneuve in the French film 8 Femmes. We both like to stay mysterious that way. Also, Meimei has a thing for men in cowboy boots, but you didn't hear that from me. - The Other)

No, I'm not an expert on fashion and beauty, but I did want my blog to be a window into the mind of an everyday kind of woman who does enjoy shopping and a few moments of luxury in her daily life, even if I never end up becoming who the fashion industry wants me to believe I could be. So you'll see entries about dumpster diving along with musings on stores from every end of the Hawaii retail spectrum, from Wal-Mart to Prada. Occasionally I'll also drop a few mentions of pop-culture moments, especially movies, music, and TV shows.
